Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Ha Van Tuan, Member of the City Party Committee and Vice Chairman of Hue City People's Committee, stated that the Ministry of Public Security’s decision to select Hue as host of the 2026 People's Public Security Military, Martial Arts and Sports Festival - Region II reflected its trust and high regard for the city's Party organization, government, people, and public security force.
Recognizing the significance of the event, city leaders directed relevant agencies to work closely with the organizing committee and carefully prepare facilities, personnel, security, and safety measures to ensure the festival's success. Mr. Tuan also expressed hope that Hue would continue to receive the Ministry’s confidence and be selected to host more large-scale events in the future.
The program opened with a large-scale ceremonial drum performance featuring 1,000 cadets from the People's Police Academy, creating a vibrant and heroic atmosphere rich in Vietnamese cultural identity. The performance, which previously made a strong impression at the opening ceremony of the 2025 ASEAN Police Football Tournament, was recreated spectacularly on the festival stage.
Throughout the evening, audiences enjoyed a variety of impressive performances. Highlights included demonstrations by the escort motorcycle convoy and specialized vehicle formations of the Security Command, as well as mounted displays performed by officers and soldiers of the Mobile Police Cavalry Unit. Lao international students studying at People's Public Security academies and schools also participated, contributing to the spirit of friendship and solidarity between the police forces of Vietnam - Laos.
Particularly well received were the qigong and strength demonstrations performed by officers and soldiers of the Mobile Police Command. The performers showcased their determination, resilience, and rigorous training through feats such as explosive push-ups over a line of fire, breaking concrete blocks with their heads, bending 12-millimeter steel bars with their eyes, walking barefoot across hot coals, and breaking stainless-steel rods with kicks.
The program also recreated a number of realistic operational scenarios, including VIP protection exercises by the Security Command; applied shooting techniques, tactical movement, and target breaching demonstrations conducted by Special Police Unit No. 1 in coordination with the Professional Animal Center and the Counterterrorism Center (K02); and firefighting, rescue, and emergency response scenarios performed by Hue City Police.
The opening night concluded with a 10-minute low-altitude fireworks display, attracting large crowds of residents and visitors and creating an exciting atmosphere for the event.
The 2026 People's Public Security Military, Martial Arts and Sports Festival – Region II is being held from June 4th to June 11th, featuring 16 military and martial arts teams and 18 sports teams. The event brings together nearly 3.000 athletes, support personnel, referees, and performing units from across the Ministry of Public Security.
