The festival is held in a vibrant atmosphere of emulation to celebrate the successful election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the term of 2026 - 2031. It also aims to mark the 51st anniversary of Hue’s Liberation Day (March 26, 1975 - March 26, 2026), the 51st anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2026), and the 80th anniversary of Vietnam Sports Day (March 27, 1946 - March 27, 2026).

The festival draws over 1,000 athletes from 16 delegations, representing 66 police units and localities, competing across seven disciplines: badminton, Chinese chess, pickleball, tug of war, men’s football, men’s volleyball, and an armed cross-country marathon. Beyond its recreational elements, the inclusion of the armed cross-country marathon underscores its strong practical value, contributing to improved endurance, enhanced mobility, and heightened combat readiness among the force.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Colonel Duong Van Thoan, Deputy Director of the City Police and Head of the Organizing Committee, emphasized that in recent years, the Party Committee and the Police Department’s leadership have consistently paid close attention to promoting sports and physical training across the entire force under the motto “Healthy for the cause of national protection”. These activities have been carried out regularly, contributing to improved physical fitness, strengthened willpower, enhanced political resilience, and a heightened sense of discipline among officers and soldiers.

The “For National Security” Sports Festival also serves as an opportunity to comprehensively assess the quality of physical training within the city’s police force. It helps identify and nurture outstanding individuals, contributing to the development of a regular, elite, and modern People’s Public Security force capable of meeting the demands of the new situation.

Immediately after the opening ceremony, a martial arts performance by officers and soldiers of the Central Mobile Police Regiment created a striking highlight, drawing enthusiastic cheers from delegates and athletes. Following the performance, the Organizing Committee proceeded with the competition schedule, with delegations and referees moving to designated venues: tug of war at the City Police flag square; men’s volleyball at Hue University of Education; and seven-a-side men’s football at Green Stadium.
