The program attracted around 430 volunteers, including staff members, lecturers, and students from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University. From early morning, many young participants were already present at the venue to complete registration procedures, undergo health screening, and donate blood. With a strong spirit of compassion and responsibility among those working in the healthcare sector, the activity received enthusiastic support from the community of staff members, lecturers, and students.
According to the organizing committee, the program collected over 400 units of blood, which will be added to the blood bank to meet transfusion needs for patients receiving treatment at Hue Central Hospital and other medical facilities in the locality.
A representative of the Hematology and Blood Transfusion Center said that after the Lunar New Year holiday, the demand for blood used in emergency care and treatment often rises, while blood reserves tend to decline as fewer people donate during the holiday period. Therefore, voluntary blood donation programs play a highly practical role in easing the pressure of blood shortages and ensuring timely treatment for many patients.

The Living Blood Bank Club of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University, currently comprises nearly 600 members, divided into 5 groups based on blood types: O, A, B, AB, and an unidentified group. The club serves as a core force in the university’s voluntary blood donation campaigns.
The blood donation movement at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University began in 2007 with the participation of youth union members. Since then, the club has organized numerous meaningful programs, contributing thousands of units of blood to support treatment for patients at Hue Central Hospital, the Hospital of Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy, and supplement the blood bank serving the Central and Central Highlands region.
