Nearly 3.000 participants join Olympic Run Day and City cross-country Race

HNN.VN - The launching ceremony of the “All people practice physical exercise following the example of the great Uncle Ho” campaign; the Olympic Run Day “For Public Health - For National Security”; and the opening of the 34th Traditional cross-country Race 2026 – an event of the 10th City Sports Festival, took place on the morning of March 22nd at Nghinh Luong Dinh Pavilion.

The event attracted nearly 3.000 athletes from 24 units. Of these, 19 units participated in the mass run, including armed forces, universities, colleges, and high schools; and 15 units joined the cross-country and support runs, coming from wards, communes, agencies, departments, and mass organizations in Hue City, along with other organizations participating in support run of the “For Public Health - For National Security” Olympic Run Day 2026.

On the mass and support run route (1,3 km), units and athletes passed through Le Duan - Ngan Gate - 28/3 Street - Quang Duc Gate - Le Duan, finishing at Nghinh Luong Dinh Pavilion.

On the cross-country route (4,2 km), athletes ran through Le Duan - Phu Xuan Bridge - Le Loi - the pedestrian walkway along the Huong River - Ga Bridge - Bui Thi Xuan - Da Vien Bridge - Le Duan, finishing at Nghinh Luong Dinh Pavilion.

In addition to these events, there was a 6,2 km men’s and women’s cross-country category (non-scoring for the Sports Festival), with the route: Nghinh Luong Dinh Pavilion - pedestrian walkway along the Huong River - Truong Tien Bridge - Nguyen Dinh Chieu Pedestrian Street - Le Ba Dang Exhibition House - Ironwood Pedestrian Bridge - riverside road along the Perfume River - Ga Bridge - Bui Thi Xuan - Da Vien Bridge - Le Duan, finishing at Nghinh Luong Dinh Pavilion.

After a morning of competition, results for the mass run were as follows: in the armed forces category, first prize went to the City Police; in the high school and government agencies category, first prize went to Quoc Hoc Hue High School for the Gifted; in the universities, colleges, vocational and professional schools category, first prize went to the Faculty of Physical Education (Hue University).

Results for the 4,2 km cross-country: first place (men) - Ho Quang Binh (Phu Vang); first place (women) - Le Thi Phuong (Quang Dien). Results for the 6,2 km cross-country: first place (men) - Nguyen Van Tan; first place (women) - Le Ho Tuong Vy. In the team standings, Quang Dien ranked first in both men’s and women’s events.

In the overall standings, first, second, and third places went to Quang Dien, Phu Bai, and Thuan An, respectively.

Mr. Bui Thanh Dung - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports said that the “For Public Health - For National Security” Olympic Run Day 2026 is jointly organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Ministry of Public Security nationwide on the morning of March 22nd, aiming to build a united, healthy, dynamic, and happy society, contributing to the cause of national industrialization and modernization in the “new era,” while strongly spreading the message: “Be healthy to study, work, and contribute”.

For Hue City, the event continues to strongly inspire the spirit of training, perseverance, and aspiration among its people, as a cultural center with more than seven centuries of formation and development; promotes the core role of the People’s Public Security force in the mass sports movement; and continues to implement and organize competitions within the program of the 10th City Sports Festival 2026.

“The example of physical training set by our beloved Uncle Ho is a vivid model for each of us to follow; it reaffirms that physical training and sports are not only for health but also for an important foundation contributing to strengthening national defense and maintaining social order and security. Therefore, each citizen, especially young people, should choose a suitable sport and practice daily; each family, agency, and unit should become a ‘bright spot’ in physical training,” Mr. Dung called for at the ceremony.
