The monument of school sports is thriving in Hue City

Phu Dong Health Festival is a traditional school sports event held every 4 years. To encourage students to engage in exercising, physical training, contributing to improving their physical well-being, Phu Dong Healthy Festival is not only a sports playground but also a place for the young generation to express their effort, determination, and dedication. This is also an opportunity for schools, provinces, and cities to exchange, learn from each other and enhance the common development of the monument.

To reach a successful and effective 11th National Phu Dong Health Festival in 2028, the Ministry of Education and Training is collaborating with relevant committees, ministries, sectors, and Hue City People’s Committee to develop a comprehensive proposal for the event.

According to the draft proposal, there will be a grassroots-level Phu Dong Health Festival (including the levels of school, commune, or school clusters as decided by local authorities), it will take place in 2026-2027 academic year; the provincial-level will be held in the 2027-2028 academic year; and the national-level festival will be conducted in 2028 in two phases. Phase 1 will be held nationwide across 5–6 areas from March to June 2028, and Phase 2 will take place in August 2028 in Hue City.

The selection of competition events must be appropriate for general education students, ensuring educational value, promoting student sports movements, and maintaining professionalism in organization and competition. All competitions should be conducted in accordance with the official rules and regulations of each sport, ensuring fairness and transparency throughout the event.

The host locality is responsible for proactively preparing all necessary infrastructure and facilities, with the principle of maximizing the use of existing venues and equipment. The construction, upgrading, or renovation of sports facilities for the event will follow the locality’s socio-economic development plan, as approved by the competent authorities.

At the conference, delegates focused their discussions on the methods, scale, and roadmap for organizing the 11th Phu Dong Health Festival while also offering suggestions for innovating the organization process and selecting appropriate sports disciplines. Based on the feedback received, the Ministry of Education and Training will compile and review the input to revise and propose the most suitable plan and approach for organizing the event.

From A Luoi to the Independence Palace

Whether by fate or extraordinary circumstance, within just 42 days, one tank company had the honor of participating in the liberation of all three major cities in southern Vietnam: Hue, Da Nang, and Saigon. The tracks of their tanks stretched over a thousand kilometers from A Luoi (Hue) to the Independence Palace, where they smashed through the gates and raised the victorious revolutionary flag atop the building, signaling total victory. That unit was Company XT4 of the heroic 203rd Tank Brigade.
