The construction of the General Nguyen Tri Phuong monument began on February 15th, 2025, within the schoolyard on an area of over 15 square meters. The total cost of the project was nearly 247 million VND, funded through social contributions and support from members of the Nguyen Tri family, former teachers and students of the school, as well as generous benefactors.
The half-body statue of General Nguyen Tri Phuong is made of blue stone, measuring 1.1 meters in height and 0.68 meters in width, and mounted on a 1-meter-high concrete pedestal and solemnly placed at the center of the schoolyard.
This meaningful project serves the purpose of promoting traditional education values and is a source of pride for the teachers and students of the school named after General Nguyen Tri Phuong - a brilliant son of Phong Chuong Commune, a talented and loyal general who dedicated his life to the nation.
General Nguyen Tri Phuong was born on September 9th, 1800 (the 21st day of the 7th lunar month of the Year of the Monkey) in Duong Long (also known as Chi Long) Village, Phong Dien District, now Trung Thanh Village, Phong Chuong Commune, Phong Dien Town. He was born and raised in a humble farmer family with a strong patriotic spirit. Despite not having a formal academic background, his talents earned him a place in the royal court, serving under the reigns of Emperors Minh Mang, Thieu Tri, and Tu Duc. Throughout all three reigns, General Nguyen Tri Phuong devoted himself wholeheartedly to the service of the people and the country.
