Originating from an idea proposed by General Secretary To Lam, Petrovietnam initiated the “STEM Innovation Petrovietnam” program. Aiming to build 100 international-standard STEM rooms across 34 provinces and cities nationwide, this project is the largest education one ever launched by a Vietnamese enterprise.

As of December 2, all 100 STEM rooms had been surveyed and had implementation plans prepared. Among them, 14 rooms have been completed and handed over to schools, 28 rooms are currently under installation, and 58 rooms are in the final stage of the supplier selection process. All STEM rooms under the program will be handed over to schools no later than December 31, 2025.

At the conference, Vietnam Oil and Gas Group provided information on the purpose and significance of the program, its implementation roadmap, and the plan for receiving, utilizing, operating, and effectively developing the STEM rooms. At the same time, the group gathered information on difficulties faced by local authorities and schools during implementation to refine the regulations and standards throughout the process.

In Hue City, the program is building 3 STEM rooms at Hai Ba Trung High School, Nguyen Hue High School, and Nguyen Tri Phuong Secondary School. The STEM rooms under the program are designed with modern facilities, equipped with smart interactive boards, AI-IoT systems, VEX Robotics kits, 3D printers, CNC cutters, and energy-environment experiment kits that meet international reference standards and align with the 2018 General Education Curriculum.

The program also enables schools to organize STEM clubs, STEM competitions, career orientation and entrepreneurship activities, as well as professional development sessions for teachers.

Right after the STEM rooms are handed over, the program will transfer the necessary technical knowledge to ensure that teachers and technicians are able to operate and use the equipment and tools provided in the STEM rooms. At the same time, intensive training sessions will be organized for teachers directly involved in instruction so they can plan and implement STEM clubs at their schools and acquire both fundamental and advanced knowledge of STEM education.
