Hue Cardiology Association originated as Thua Thien Hue Cardiology Chapter, established in 1993. After more than 30 years of development, the association has continued to grow, gradually assert its role and standing in the field of cardiology and related specialties.
The association currently has 324 members working across a wide range of disciplines, including clinical cardiology, interventional cardiology, cardiovascular surgery, cardiac intensive care, and nationwide heart transplantation programs. These activities have contributed significantly to improving cardiovascular healthcare for residents of the Central Highlands, Central Vietnam, and the country as a whole.
During the 2020 - 2025 term, members actively participated in scientific research projects ranging from institutional and city-level studies to university research and international clinical trials. The association also promoted multidisciplinary collaboration involving endocrinology, metabolism, and urology to improve treatment outcomes for patients.

A range of advanced and highly specialized techniques have been routinely implemented, including extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) therapy, continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), and complex coronary interventions supported by intravascular ultrasound (IVUS), intravascular lithotripsy (IVL), transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI), and rotational atherectomy using the Rotablator system. These advances have expanded treatment opportunities for critically ill patients and those with complex medical conditions.
In the field of organ transplantation, cardiologists from Hue Central Hospital have played an active role in nationwide heart and liver transplant teams. In 2025 alone, the hospital successfully performed 202 organ transplants, including seven heart transplants, five liver transplants, and 190 kidney transplants, many of which were complex cases with high success rates.
Alongside its professional activities, the association has also organized numerous charitable healthcare programs, providing free medical examinations and medications to residents in disadvantaged areas and beneficiaries of social welfare policies. Through these outreach programs, many cases of hypertension and cardiovascular disease were detected at an early stage. The total value of medications and medical services provided through three community healthcare clinics amounted to approximately 200 million VND, funded through contributions mobilized by the association and its sponsors.

Speaking at the congress, Professor Huynh Van Minh, Dr., Chairman of Hue Cardiology Association, stated that the achievements made in recent years have helped reinforce Hue’s position as one of Vietnam’s leading cardiovascular centers.
According to Professor Minh, fields such as interventional cardiology, cardiac electrophysiology and arrhythmia treatment, cardiac surgery, heart failure management, hypertension, preventive cardiology, and cardiometabolic medicine have all experienced significant development and have adopted advanced techniques comparable to those used elsewhere in the region.
During the 2025 - 2030 term, Hue Cardiology Association will continue to serve as a bridge between research and clinical practice, as well as between training and application. The association will also strengthen connections between leading experts and younger physicians, contributing to the effective implementation of strategies for scientific and technological development and public healthcare improvement.
The congress elected a 37-member Executive Committee for the 2025–2030 term. Prof. Dr. Huynh Van Minh was re-elected as Chairman of Hue Cardiology Association for the new term.
