Tourists enjoy Tet and take photos at Cau Ngoi Thanh Toan
From early morning, local people and tourist from many places come to Cau Ngoi Thanh Toan area (Thuy Thanh Commune, Huong Thuy town) to enjoy Tet. In addition to entertainment venues in Hue city, Thuy Thanh is a place chosen by many domestic and international tourists because of the beauty of the ancient bridge, the peaceful atmosphere, being near the city center and the “Rural market festival” brand name which is held during Hue festivals.
The Thuy Thanh rural market session early in the year attracts many tourists. Mrs. Nguyen Thi Thanh, who lives in Lam Dong province shared: “This year, I come to Hue to visit my relatives. The idea of coming to Cau Ngoi Thanh Toan came right on the first days I was in this Ancient Capital. Here, there are many entertainment and tourism venues, and the people are also very friendly. In the morning, I can go to the rural market to buy farmers’ fruits and vegetables, which are both fresh and cheap. I love the setting of this market because it is very familiar”.
Comparing to previous years, the entertainment activities at Tet in the area of Cau Ngoi Thanh Toan are quite plentiful this year, focusing on serving local people and tourists, in which Bai Choi game is seemed as a main activity, which is well-known in every Tet holidays. To meet the need of tourists, the organization board collects many Card chanties and focuses more on the singing part in each game. The card game festival “opens” from the morning to 10:00 p.m., and lasts from the 1st day to the 7th day of Tet. Besides Bai Choi card game, the locality also holds many folk games such as Bịt mắt đập om (blindfold pot-hitting game) and games for children.

This year, there are also music and games performances at night in the area of Cau Ngoi Thanh Toan with the participation of bingo music troupe. Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hieu, Hue city resident shared: “Holding this activity is so great, while adults play Bai Choi, children also can participate in Tet activities here. Thanks to that, tourists won’t be disappointed when coming here on the time of dusk”.
According to the representative of the People’s Committee of Thuy Thanh commune, the museum displaying agricultural tools and the tourist sites are still willing to welcome tourists and meet their entertainment needs. Before the Lunar New Year, some of the streets in the hamlets were renewed, repaired and set up traffic lights to welcome local people and tourists from far away to come at night. The commune also kept to lanterns, added more flags and tried their best to create the most ancient beauty to meet the need of playing and taking photos of local people and tourists. The entertainment activities are expected to last until the 7th day or the 10th day (of the Lunar new year) if local people and tourist are in need.
