Catching the "trend" of making Christmas pine trees from velvet wires
Meticulous

After learning how to make them from social networks, meticulously after 2 hours, Kieu Trinh, a young person born in 2000, finished making colorful tulips and lilies from velvet wires. Kieu Trinh said: "My friends also love velvet wire products. Not only is it durable and has bright colors, velvet wires can create many different products for giving and decoration."

With its malleability and the colorful soft velvet layer that creates volume, floatiness, and softness, velvet wires can be easily shaped into handicraft products such as flowers, fruits, animals, hair pins, etc.

Although it is easy to shape, to make unique and beautiful velvet wire products, makers still have to learn a lot of skills. Kieu Trinh shared: "It looks easy because you just cut, bend, and fix the velvet to create the shape, but to make it beautiful is very difficult to achieve. For example, a velvet tulip flower, not only needs to choose the beautiful color, the bloom of the flower, and the delicacy of the petals, but the flower stem to the attached leaf must also be made very carefully. Furthermore, because velvet wire is malleable, it can easily lose its shape. With just a little mistake, the flower petals will be distorted and lose their original beauty."

Therefore, not only does she participate in many associations and groups making velvet flowers, Kieu Trinh has to practice to become more and more skillful in making flowers. Trinh said: "Last November 20, I made a large bouquet of velvet flowers to give to my mother. My mother is also a teacher, so receiving flowers from her daughter was extremely surprising and happy. That motivation made me even more interested in velvet wires. Whenever I have free time, I take the velvet wires to bend, seeing it as both entertainment and creating meaningful products."

Making income

Unlike Kieu Trinh, Ms. Ha followed the trend of velvet wires to earn more income. She said: "I am a housewife and have a bit of talent for handicrafts, so I make flowers and other products from velvet wires to earn extra income." Without taking any classes, all the skills of processing, color mixing and shaping velvet wires were researched on social networking sites.

In addition to making flowers, Ms. Ha also makes products to sell for the coming Christmas such as reindeer-decorated headbands, handmade hair ties, and Christmas trees. The joy of working and being creative helps her be more positive and also have more income to spend. Ms. Ha's two children also have clothes their mother made to wear during the upcoming Christmas.

Recently, not only Ms. Ha, when the trend to make shaped products from velvet wires, especially Christmas trees, "bloomed", the demand for buying and making products from velvet wires is increasing.

Ms. Nhung, an owner of the velvet wires distribution facility, said that from mid-year until now, the velvet wires she imported have been out of stock very quickly. She said: "Depending on customers' needs, we provide both rolled velvet wires and cut-out zinc wires, with high or low prices depending on the durability and color. In addition, I have bases, decorations, and tapes for customers to easily create shapes. Especially when Christmas is near, red and blue are more popular than ever, sometimes they are out of stock. However, there are still many customers who choose bright colors to create eye-catching and meaningful Christmas pine patterns such as pink, yellow, white, etc.
