HNN.VN - On October 31, the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism said that it had sent a document to the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue Province regarding the preparation of a dossier to recognize Phuoc Tich ancient village (Phong Hoa Commune, Phong Dien District) as a special national relic.

Previously, the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism had received a proposal from the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue Province regarding a request to compile a dossier for submission to the Prime Minister for consideration and recognition of Phuoc Tich ancient village as a special national relic.

After conducting research and consulting with scientists from the National Heritage Council (in the term of 2020 - 2024), the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism has reached a consensus with the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue Province on this affair.

Based on the required components and format for the dossier, the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism asked the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue Province to instruct relevant agencies to compile the dossier of the relic and send it to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (via the Department of Cultural Heritage).

Phuoc Tich ancient village was recognized as a national heritage site in 2009. This ancient village is surrounded by the O Lau River, borders Quang Tri Province, and is located 40km north of Hue City. It was established in 1470 during the reign of King Le Thanh Tong. At the time of its recognition as a national heritage site, the village was assessed as being exceptionally well-preserved and valuable not only in the Central region but also throughout the country, with dozens of traditional ruong houses and garden houses bearing particular technical and aesthetic values.

In addition, Phuoc Tich ancient village still preserves a series of cultural values such as architectural structures for religious beliefs (the communal house, pagodas, ancestral shrine, and temples), natural landscapes, and village landscapes.
