Established on July 20, 1991, Hue City Folk Arts Association is one of the longest-standing specialized associations under the Union of Literature and Arts Association of Hue City. Over the past 35 years, it has served as an important bridge connecting researchers, folk artisans, and local communities in surveying, collecting, studying, and publishing numerous valuable works on folk culture. Through these efforts, the Association has made significant contributions to the identification and preservation of Hue’s rich folk cultural heritage, encompassing village culture, folk beliefs, traditional festivals, performing arts, traditional handicrafts, cuisine, and indigenous knowledge.

Amid rapid globalization, urbanization, and digital transformation, folk culture is facing both new opportunities and growing challenges. The seminar attracted a large number of researchers, lecturers, administrators, and collaborators, who shared insights and presented papers offering a comprehensive overview of the current state of folk arts research in Hue through an interdisciplinary approach that bridges theory and practice. Many of the studies also offered practical recommendations for promoting the value of cultural heritage through education, cultural tourism, and sustainable community-based tourism.

The seminar also introduced modern approaches to folk culture research and preservation, helping raise public awareness and support state cultural management efforts. It also contributed to reaffirming the role and significance of Hue’s folk culture in promoting the city’s cultural identity.

Hue City Folk Arts Association also received a Certificate of Merit from Hue City People’s Committee in recognition of its significant contributions to the development of culture and the arts in Hue over the past 35 years.
