It landed at 3:20 a.m. on July 2, 2023, and was greeted with the ceremonial water cannon salute and a unicorn-lion-dragon dance performance.

After completing the immigration procedures, the provincial authorities, the Department of Tourism, Phu Bai International Airport, the Central Vietnam Airports Authority at Phu Bai International Airport, Vietjet Air, and the Tourism Association warmly welcomed and presented flowers and souvenirs to the passengers and the crew.

Passengers arriving in Hue Ancient Capital on this flight will have the opportunity to experience local cuisine, explore the cultural values, natural landscapes, and the people, as well as famous historical sites and landmarks in Thua Thien Hue Province and neighbouring provinces such as Quang Nam and Da Nang.

Thua Thien Hue Province offers preferential policies for travel agencies and tourists, such as a 50% discount on entrance tickets to Hue's historical sites and arrangements for the Nha Nhac (Royal Court Music) performances.

Since its maiden flight to Phu Bai International Airport in 2012, Vietjet Air has contributed to bring millions of domestic and international tourists to Thua Thien Hue and other places along the “Central Heritage Road.”

Vice Chairman Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh stated, “Thua Thien Hue Province is delighted to welcome the first international flight to the newly operational Terminal 2 operated by Vietjet Air. We trust and will always accompany and support Vietjet Air in developing more international and domestic routes to Thua Thien Hue Province, contributing to develop tourism, expand investment and trade even further, deserving the potential and strengths of Thua Thien Hue Province."

The Tourism industry of Thua Thien Hue is also actively promoting and communicating the local tourism image and products as well as advising on policies to create favorable conditions and encourage local travel companies to offer preferential discounts to airlines and tour operators bringing guests to Thua Thien Hue. Provincial tourist firms will also be assisted in connecting and promoting new products, including health care tourism, MICE tourism, traditional craft village tourism, and spiritual tourism to complement heritage tourism; at the same time, titles such as “Hue – the City of Festivals,” “Hue - The Capital of Ao Dai,” and "Hue - The Capital of Gastronomy” are being developed.

Thua Thien Hue is also implementing the Four Season Festival project to attract domestic and international tourists throughout the year. This provides favorable conditions and great opportunities to increase flights and open new routes to and from Phu Bai International Airport, thereby, promoting the image, affirming the position, and driving the socio-economic development of Thua Thien Hue.
