| Perspective rendering of the First-prize design - ‘Moon River Wharf’ |
The First-prize entry, submission No. 168, themed ‘Moon River Wharf’, was submitted by a joint venture between Transport Construction Investment Consulting Joint Stock Company No. 1 and CUBIC Architects Joint Stock Company, based in Lang Ward, Hanoi.
The ‘Moon River Wharf’design was highly rated for having the lowest total investment cost among all competition entries, at approximately 1,445.994 billion VND for the competition scope. The design also minimizes the extent of land clearance required, reducing impacts on the natural structure and on community life in the Con Hen area.
A standout feature of the design is the creation of a traffic corridor that harmoniously connects the Hue Imperial Citadel area with the new urban zone to the South, helping to expand space for urban development while still preserving the distinctive scenery of the Huong River.

Under the selected design, the bridge crossing Con Hen and its approach roads at both ends will run approximately 1.75 km long, within a total project length of about 2.76 km. The cross-section along the entire route will be 26 m wide, with a study area extending roughly 20 m on either side from the road’s boundary line.
The project begins at the intersection of Truong Gia Mo Street and the extended Le Duc Anh Street in Vy Da Ward, and ends at the intersection of Nguyen Binh Khiem Street and the extended Ho Quy Ly Street in Phu Xuan Ward, Hue City.
The bridge crossing Con Hen over the Huong River, and its approach roads at both ends, has an estimated total investment of about 2,200 billion VND, with an implementation period of about four years.
The City Project Management Board for Transport Construction Investment has been assigned by the City People’s Committee to take the lead, working with the winning team to finalize the technical design and support the next stages of implementation, ensuring construction quality, as well as the architectural and landscape value to build a new iconic bridge for Hue City.
