Coordinating support for workers overseas

HNN.VN - On the morning of December 2nd, the Department of Overseas Labor Management, the Center for Overseas Labor, and the Overseas Employment Support Fund (Ministry of Home Affairs), in coordination with the Department of Home Affairs, organized a training session to enhance the capacity of officials and communicators responsible for introducing, mobilizing, and advising workers (laborers) as well as their families on overseas employment under contract.

The program attracted a large number of union officials and communicators in charge of sending laborers to work abroad at wards and communes across the area.

During the 2021-2025 period, Hue City sent 9.157 laborers to work abroad under contract; with 2.516 laborers departed in 2025 alone. Of this, Vietnam Bank for Social Policies provided preferential loans to 1.350 laborers, with a total amount exceeding 101 billion VND. Many laborers, after returning home, have gained capital and skills, contributing positively to local economic development.

At the training session, participants listened to speakers presenting an overview of the overseas labor market, noting that approximately 900.000 Vietnamese laborers are currently working in more than 40 countries and territories, with annual remittances exceeding 5 billion USD. Three key markets Japan, Taiwan (China), and South Korea account for over 90% of total labor exports.

In addition, participants were also introduced to support policies, recruitment procedures, and the rights and obligations of laborers participating in the program. They also engaged in exchanges, discussions, and experience sharing regarding practical challenges in grassroots-level counseling and mobilization.

The training session serves as an important preparation to help Hue City continue effectively implementing its goals of sustainable poverty reduction, expanding employment opportunities, and improving incomes for residents, especially in rural areas.
