Speaking at the launch ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Chi Tai emphasized: “Caring for the poor, ensuring social welfare and achieving sustainable poverty reduction are major, consistent policies of the Party and State, and a shared responsibility of the entire political system and society. In the new period, poverty reduction efforts must shift from providing immediate assistance to creating opportunities for people to improve their lives sustainably, while encouraging self-reliance, resilience and the determination to move forward”.

He called on agencies, organizations, businesses, benefactors and residents to uphold the traditions of solidarity and mutual support by contributing to the “For the Poor” Fund. These efforts will help achieve the target set by the 17th Hue City Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term: to virtually eliminate poor households in the city by 2030.

Thanks to concerted efforts across the political system, Hue City's poverty rate fell significantly from 4.93% in 2021 to 1.08% by the end of 2025. Notably, the mountainous district of A Luoi was officially recognized by the Prime Minister as having escaped poverty in 2024. During the 2025-2026 period alone, the city's ‘For the Poor’ Fund mobilized more than VND 32 billion, supporting the construction and repair of thousands of Great Solidarity houses, along with practical livelihood, healthcare and education programs.

At the ceremony, city leaders pressed a button to officially announce the completion of 96 Great Solidarity houses for 96 poor and near-poor households across 40 communes and wards during the 2025-2026 period. The project received more than VND 5.76 billion from the city's ‘For the Poor’ Fund, with each household receiving VND 60 million towards the construction of a new home. Each family was also given a 43-inch television to improve access to information and enrich their daily lives.

In particular, as of 7 p.m. on October 7th, 2026, the city's ‘For the Poor’ Fund had received donations and pledges from 85 organizations and individuals, totalling more than VND 17 billion. Of this amount, the city's socio-political organizations pledged to mobilize more than VND 12.1 billion.

The 2026 peak campaign month ‘For the Poor’ will run until November 18th, continuing to promote the spirit of sharing and mobilize community resources to help disadvantaged residents overcome difficulties and build more stable lives.
