Building signature tourism products
During the on-site inspection along the Huong River, Mr. Le Tri Thanh heard reports from relevant units on the current condition of boat docks, tourist boat operations, connectivity between destinations on both riverbanks, and plans to develop new products and services tied to the Huong River space.
Mr. Le Tri Thanh noted that the Huong River and the landscape along its banks offer a unique advantage for building signature tourism products for Hue. Exploitation of this potential should be carefully planned with a long-term vision, creating new products, enhancing visitor experiences, and encouraging longer stays, while also preserving the landscape, environment, and cultural and heritage values.
The City Chairman asked relevant departments, sectors, and units to continue studying ways to diversify waterway tourism products, and to review potential sites for new docks, rest stops, and service areas linked to sightseeing spots, heritage sites, and riverside scenery.
He also called for research into accommodation and river-experience models on the Huong River that comply with regulations and ensure waterway traffic safety, fire prevention and fighting, environmental hygiene, and service quality.

For construction projects along both banks of the Huong River, Chairman of the City People’s Committee Le Tri Thanh called for close attention to architecture, landscape, and the quality of the urban space, with careful study of building massing, facade design, materials, and color scheme, as well as their harmony with the overall landscape.
Studying optimal flood drainage solutions
Inspecting several routes and areas tied to the city’s flood drainage solutions, Mr. Le Tri Thanh requested that departments, sectors and local authorities continue closely reviewing ground elevation levels in residential areas, especially low-lying areas prone to flooding during heavy rain, floods, and high tides; at the same time, fully assessing existing drainage capacity to determine appropriate solutions for each area.
On flood regulation across the Huong River basin, he asked specialized agencies to comprehensively review reservoir operating procedures, and proactively create flood-storage capacity ahead of heavy rain events, to help reduce downstream water flow while still meeting water storage needs for the dry season.

For projects and items already identified for implementation, Mr. Le Tri Thanh asked that priority order, the responsibilities of each agency and unit, and implementation timelines be clearly defined, so that an overall plan can be finalized soon, gradually strengthening the city’s flood-prevention capacity and its resilience to extreme weather patterns.
Inspecting the progress in addressing coastal erosion at Thuan An Beach, Mr. Le Tri Thanh asked the project investor and relevant units to focus on ensuring quality, technical standards, safety, and schedule in construction, and to keep monitoring vulnerable, erosion-prone areas in order to gradually restore and establish a stable beach, contributing to the protection of infrastructure, residential areas, coastal protection forests, and local livelihoods.
