| Overview of the official meeting |
At the meeting, Standing Vice Chairman of Hue City People’s Committee Hoang Hai Minh highly appreciated the exchanges and cooperation between Hue and Fundación Metrópoli over time. He noted that many of the urban development ideas and models proposed by the organization are well-suited to the city’s development vision for the new stage.
According to the Standing Vice Chairman, Hue’s cultural heritage and lagoon system are two features that give the city its unique identity. Together with its extensive urban greenery, the landscapes of the Perfume River and Ngu Binh Mountain, and its distinctive ecological spaces, Hue possesses significant advantages for developing as a green, sustainable, smart, and culturally distinctive city.
On that foundation, the city has consistently pursued the goal of building a modern and innovation-driven urban center, while ensuring harmony between development and the preservation and promotion of its heritage, landscapes, and environment, as well as expanding new development spaces toward the sea.
Standing Vice Chairman of Hue City People’s Committee Hoang Hai Minh emphasized that, in line with these development orientations, Hue City is looking forward to continuing to receive the support from Fundación Metrópoli and Dr. Alfonso Vegara Gomez. Leveraging their extensive international expertise in creative urban planning, green growth, and urban branding, they can help the city turn its development vision into reality and unlock new opportunities for sustainable growth.
Speaking at the meeting, Dr. Alfonso Vegara Gomez expressed his deep impression of Hue’s rich heritage, natural landscapes, and development potential. The President of Fundación Metrópoli noted that, with its distinctive cultural, historical, environmental, and human values, Hue is well-positioned to shape a unique urban development model that both preserves its identity and generates new momentum for growth.

Dr. Alfonso Vegara Gomez affirmed that Fundación Metrópoli stands ready to accompany and support Hue in researching, developing, and implementing urban development strategies tailored to the city’s unique characteristics. Such efforts would contribute to transforming Hue into Vietnam’s festival city and a distinctive heritage urban center, as well as a major regional hub for culture, tourism, and specialized healthcare in Southeast Asia.
Following the discussions, the two sides reached consensus on several priority areas for cooperation, including sustainable heritage urban development; the growth of creative industries, cultural industries, the night-time economy, and the digital economy associated with heritage assets; international investment promotion; and the promotion of Hue’s brand name. They also agreed to cooperate on low-carbon urban development, green infrastructure, green mobility, renewable energy, and climate resilience initiatives.
The leaders of Hue City People’s Committee called Fundación Metrópoli on continuing its engagement and cooperation in implementing the proposed areas of collaboration. They also expressed their hope that Dr. Alfonso Vegara Gomez and Fundación Metrópoli would support Hue in promoting its potential and strengths, while helping connect the city with strategic investors, international organizations, and businesses interested in exploring investment opportunities aligned with Hue’s vision of green, sustainable, and culturally distinctive development.
