The leader of Hue University presented flowers to congratulate the launching ceremony
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Thi Hong Nhung, Rector of the HUFLIS, informed that after many years of teaching American Studies as a specialization within the Faculty of International Studies in the HUFLIS, the American Studies has become a bachelor's program, officially enrolling its first cohort from July of the 2025 - 2026 academic year.
The HUFLIS's decision to open a new bachelor's program, oriented towards in-depth research on culture, literature, history, economics, etc., such as the American Studies, aligns with the orientation and development strategy for international studies alongside traditional majors, including: English, Russian, French, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, etc., and foreign language teacher training major.
The American Studies major officially becoming a bachelor's program this year is a particularly important event, based on the HUFLIS's long history of teaching this specialization, on the survey and analysis of social needs, as well as the intellect and capabilities of the HUFLIS's faculty.
The implementation of new majors like this will contribute to meeting the demands of the labor market for high-quality foreign language human resources, which increasingly requires in-depth knowledge and skills in the languages, culture, education, history, etc., of other countries, on top of language proficiency and fluent foreign language communication skills.
HUFLIS is the first public university to open this major as a full Bachelor of Arts program since the Ministry of Education and Training issued a decision recognizing this field of major. The program at HUFLIS allows high school graduates to have an additional major as a suitable choice to meet today's international cooperation needs.
