Following medical screenings and overall health assessments, 52 patients were selected to undergo surgery. The procedures took place from June 15 to 19, with the participation of the hospital’s medical specialists and a team of volunteer healthcare professionals from the United States.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Khoa Hung, Vice Rector of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University, and Director of Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital, highly appreciated the establishment of the hospital’s first partnership with Surgical Volunteers International (SVI). Furthermore, he expressed his hope that the program would serve as an important platform for both sides to further expand their cooperation in the future, particularly in humanitarian surgeries, medical workforce training, and the transfer of advanced medical techniques.

Alongside the surgeries, the two sides also conducted other continuing medical education (CME) courses, seminars, and academic exchange activities for medical staff, residents, and students. Beyond offering life-changing treatment to patients, the initiative also served as an opportunity to foster international collaboration, improve training quality, and contribute to the advancement of professional expertise at Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital.
