Hue University Hospital of Medicine and Pharmacy: 3rd Online Webinar on Reconstructive Surgery

HNN.VN - Within the framework of cooperation between Hue University Hospital and Global Care Organization, on June 30, Hue University Hospital of Medicine and Pharmacy held the 3rd Online Webinar on Reconstructive Surgery.

Attending the Webinar, on the side of Hue University Hospital of Medicine and Pharmacy, there were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Khoa Hung, Director of the University Hospital; Dr. Le Hong Phuc, Deputy Head of the Department of Trauma - Orthopedic - Thoracic Surgery; Head of Plastic and Reconstructive Unit, and more than 80 doctors and students from the Department of Trauma - Orthopedic - Thoracic Surgery, Otolaryngology - Ophthalmology - Odonto-Stomatology. The webinar also welcomes the attendance of Assoc. Prof. Le Nghi Thanh Nhan, Chief of Orthopedics and Plastic Surgery and the staffs from the relating departments.

From the Korean side, there were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lim So Young, Department of Plastic Surgery, Sunghyungkwan University Hospital, Samsung Medical Center, Korea and professors from Injee Club.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Khoa Hung said that this was an opportunity for the participants to update and improve their professional knowledge as well as gaining valuable treatment experiences from leading experts in the field of plastic surgery. In the complicated pandemic situation, in addition to the medical examination and treatment along with COVID-19 prevention and control, the hospital still updated and maintained specialized international cooperation through online activities.

Global Care has been a partner of Hue University Hospital of Medicine and Pharmacy for many years with projects, training support, free cleft lip and palate surgery for patients in the Central – Central Highlands region. Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, experts from Korea could not come to work directly with the doctors at Hue University Hospital. Therefore, Hue University Hospital and Global Care organized a series of online webinars on reconstructive surgery. This webinar was the 3rd one held following the two previous successful webinars.

On the afternoon of April 29, Hue Central Hospital (HCH) successfully performed a transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) for the first time on a 76-year-old female patient from Da Nang. This marks the hospital’s first implementation of this technique.

On February 22, Hue Dental Hospital (under the Department of Health) collaborated with Resurge International, Stanford University (USA), and the World Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery to conduct screenings for patients from Hanoi, Long An, Nha Trang, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, and other locations. This program is part of the breast reconstruction surgery week for post-cancer patients.
