“Hue culture and tourism smart city development” project to be surveyed and planned

HNN.VN - This activity was implemented on the morning of March 23 by the leaders of Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) in Vietnam and the People's Committee of Hue City. Chairman of Hue City’s People's Committee Vo Le Nhat chaired the meeting, with the attendance of Ms. Yoo Sooyeon, Deputy Director of KOICA in Hanoi and project management consulting units.

The total investment of the five-year project (2021-2025) “Hue culture and tourism smart city development” is USD 14.8 million, in which, KOICA supports the development of the project with the aim to improve public management capacity in the field of tourism related to the transformation of the tourism industry towards developing the economy, ensuring a sustainable environment and society.

The goal of the project is to develop tourism in Hue city and to build a smart tourism information system; to develop urban cultural tourism center and expand urban walking network in Hue. The implemented components include the installation of smart lighting systems and surveillance cameras along the banks of the Perfume River; building public administrative capacity in tourism development and urban management. The scope of the project is the park area on both banks of the Perfume River, from Da Vien Bridge to Truong Tien Bridge.

After the survey, leaders of the two sides agreed that the implementation of “Hue culture and tourism smart city development” project on the basis of support and close coordination of KOICA and consultants in the fields of planning, culture and tourism will create products, services, works on culture and smart tourism for Hue city; and, at the same time make a mark for the cooperation relationship between the two sides.

Vietnam’s oldest cadastral record preserved in Hue

Hue is a land that bears the imprint of the southward migration and territorial expansion undertaken more than 700 years ago by the people of ancient Thuan Hoa. Very few documents reveal the timing of these migration waves or the organization and formation of Vietnamese villages in the region. Yet during fieldwork, I gained access to several ancient Han-Nom documents recording the migration, land reclamation, and establishment of villages and communes. Most notably is a cadastral record dating to the 9th year of the Dai Hoa reign (1451) under King Le Nhan Tong, compiled exactly 575 years ago.
