The cruise ship Adora Mediterranea brought 2.204 passengers and 733 crew members ashore for sightseeing in Hue City.
According to representatives of the International Health Quarantine Department under CDC Hue, before the ship’s arrival, the unit had received and reviewed maritime health declarations, health status forms of passengers and crew, and reports related to epidemiological conditions along the voyage. After the ship anchored, quarantine officers conducted on-site inspections of environmental sanitation conditions, waste and wastewater treatment systems, food safety measures, and vector control efforts against insects and disease-carrying animals on board.
In the context of the potential risk of Nipah virus transmission through international trade and tourism activities, quarantine personnel intensified surveillance for fever, respiratory symptoms, or abnormal neurological signs among passengers and crew members. Monitoring was conducted rigorously to promptly detect and handle suspected cases in accordance with established procedures. Inspection results recorded no cases of infectious diseases requiring isolation or special medical measures.
CDC Hue stated that in the future, the unit will continue maintaining 24/7 duty at the port of entry, regularly update information on global epidemic developments, including Nipah, and promptly adjust surveillance measures as necessary. At the same time, it will strengthen communication to passengers and crew regarding preventive measures and encourage truthful health declarations when experiencing suspicious symptoms.
This marks the second international cruise ship to undergo health quarantine procedures since the beginning of the year.
