Golf’s “Responsibilities”

HNN.VN - With its unique characteristics, Golf is “carrying” quite a few “responsibilities” on its shoulders as it serves both as a sport and as a catalyst, contributing to promoting high-quality tourism growth, expanding resort real estate space, increasing commercial and service value, and elevating destination brands internationally.

Many expectations

By the end of October, Hue City will host the Vietnam Golf Course Owners Summit 2025 (VNGOS 2025) for the first time at Laguna Lang Co Golf Resort. The conference is a key activity within the framework of “Health Tourism Week - Vietnam Golf Festival”, part of the National Tourism Year - Hue 2025 event series.

The event is expected to welcome over 200 delegates from more than 10 countries and territories, including investors, golf course developers, state management agency representatives, prestigious international golf associations, along with leading industry experts and major corporations in the tourism and resort sector, plus the participation of world golf legend Greg Norman - Vietnam Tourism Ambassador for the 2025-2030 term. It can be said that VNGOS 2025 is an opportunity for Vietnam in general, and Hue City in particular, to strongly spread the message about golf development orientation linked to the national image.

With its unique characteristics, Golf is “shouldering” quite a few “responsibilities” as it serves both as a sport and has become a catalyst, contributing to promoting high-quality tourism growth, expanding resort real estate space, increasing commercial and service value, and elevating destination brands internationally.

From these factors, VNGOS 2025 is not just a conference, but is also expected to become a large-scale forum with depth and strategic nature, along with practical solutions to shape the future of Vietnam’s golf industry; contributing to creating a sustainable development foundation, connecting golf with tourism, health and recreation, opening new opportunities for Vietnam on the regional and world golf map.

According to a leader of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (Ministry of Culture, Sports & Tourism), the conference would focus on long-term strategic axes, such as: Promoting inbound golf tourism; positioning Vietnam as a leading golf destination in Asia; building sustainable and environmentally friendly development standards; discussing the roadmap for developing 100 new golf courses nationwide; exchanging investment incentive policies, public-private partnership (PPP) models and attracting FDI to the sector; laying the foundation for forming the Vietnam Golf Course Owners Alliance - a voice representing the professional golf development community.

“A notable new point is that the conference will introduce a project to build a system of evaluation criteria and star rating for golf courses in Vietnam - a necessary tool to improve service quality, enhance player experience, and increase the competitiveness of Vietnamese golf internationally. Through discussion sessions, forums, and experience sharing, the conference promises to create an open and receptive dialogue space, aiming for comprehensive professionalization of the national golf industry,” said the official.

“Green” Golf - A strategic product

VNGOS 2025 attracts the participation of organizations and individuals with great influence in the global golf industry, such as the Spanish Golf Course Owners Association, the Chairman of the Korean Golf Association, the Asian Golf Industry Federation (AGIF), along with investors from Korea, the Middle East, and many famous international brands like Turfgrass, Sport Turf Solutions, Toro.... It is expected to open a new chapter for the golf tourism development journey in the Ancient Capital. This is also an opportunity for Hue to affirm its position as a strategic golf destination in Central Vietnam and the whole country, opening opportunities for connection, image promotion, and creating new landmarks on the regional and world golf map.

Ms. Tran Thi Hoai Tram, Director of the Department of Tourism, informed that Hue currently has 2 operational golf courses: Laguna Golf Lang Co and Golden Sands Golf Resort. Soon, this number will increase to 5 with 3 golf course projects in Kim Long Ward, Nam Dong Commune, and Phong Phu Ward. And according to the planning approved by the Prime Minister, with a vision extending to 2050, Hue City will develop 11 golf course projects featuring destination chains and modern, standard ecosystems, where environmental protection and conservation, along with the application of many conservation and sustainable development solutions to create harmonious destinations, are given top priority.

With the consistent message “Green Golf - Sustainable Tourism - Local Economic Development,” VNGOS 2025 will create a playground connecting investment, policy guidance, and sharing global trends, as well as spreading the image of Vietnam as a world-class golf destination - where nature, culture, sports, and creativity converge. And this will be the boost for Vietnam’s golf industry, including Hue, to enter a new, professional development phase, closely linked with tourism value chains, real estate, aviation, commerce, and services, contributing to creating spillover momentum for sustainable socio-economic growth.
