Medical tourism and wellness tourism are not new development trends. Hue possesses many favorable conditions to develop these two types of tourism. However, to effectively exploit existing advantages, it is necessary to create products that align with market demand, based on linkages among medical facilities, service providers, and travel enterprises.

On October 14 in Hanoi, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and Hue City People’s Committee signed an Action plan for cooperation on the development of culture, sports, and tourism through 2030. Hue City is the first locality to sign such a cooperation plan, aiming to tap into the potential and advantages of the city as a heritage city, a Festival City, and a distinctive cultural center of Vietnam.

With a new approach that shifts from ''preserving and exploiting individual monuments'' to ''connecting and leveraging the entire heritage system,'' the Project titled ''Leveraging the Value of President Ho Chi Minh Relics in Hue City for Tourism Development (2026 - 2030)'' (hereinafter referred to as the Project) also aims to address uneven heritage promotion and the lack of system-wide connectivity among historic sites.

“Thuan Hoa Ward needs to take the initiative in researching planning options and proposing investments, while also inviting businesses to participate in developing public amenities, services, and tourism. The proposals should link new development investments with urban renovation, and assess the feasibility of implementation during the current term,” emphasized Mr. Le Tri Thanh, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, and Chairman of the City People’s Committee.

As Hue moves toward its goal of becoming a distinctive heritage city and a major cultural and tourism hub for Vietnam and Southeast Asia by 2030, external relations, particularly cultural diplomacy, are taking on a strategic role. “Chan May - Lang Co needs to be developed into a growth hub for industry, logistics, services and tourism in Hue City and the central region. Every decision on infrastructure investment must focus on long-term effectiveness, synchronization, and a clear roadmap, while having the capacity to create breakthroughs in socio-economic development,” Chairman of Hue City People’s Committee Le Tri Thanh emphasized that at a meeting with the Department of Industry and Trade and the Management Board of Hue City Economic and Industrial Zones on August 12 to discuss infrastructure investment in economic zones, industrial parks, and industrial clusters, as well as investment attraction.

On the morning of August 9, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of Hue City People’s Committee Le Tri Thanh conducted a field inspection of infrastructure supporting waterway tourism development on the Huong River, inspected the city’s urban flood drainage solutions, and checked on the progress in addressing coastal erosion at Thuan An beach.
