During the September 2nd National Day holiday, Ru Cha in Hoa Chau Ward became a popular destination for local residents and visitors. The lush mangrove forest amid Tam Giang Lagoon, together with a community-based ecotourism model currently being piloted, has begun to enhance the destination’s appeal while opening up new livelihood opportunities for local residents.

Ru Cha mangrove forest stands quietly like a sentinel guarding Tam Giang - Cau Hai lagoon system. Through countless seasons of storms and heavy rains, the ancient Cha trees have remained firmly rooted in the soil, embracing the surrounding villages, blocking waves, trapping sediment, and sustaining the unique ecosystem of the lower reaches of the Perfume River.

When summer arrives, Hue awakes earlier, bathing itself in the sunlight that spills brilliantly across the landscape. So do life, as activities begin to stir across the countryside, coastal areas, lagoons, and the city. Each dawn sky reveals a scene of its own: expansive yet unassuming, warm, tranquil, and brimming with renewed vitality.

Beyond generating a steady income for residents, the vibrant chrysanthemum gardens also pave the way to promote a model of community-based tourism tied to the unique landscape of Tam Giang Lagoon.

With over 120 kilometers of coastline and a vast lagoon system bestowed by nature, Hue is home to numerous attractive seafood markets, including Phu Hau Market and Ngu My Thanh Floating Market, and Vinh Hien Market… In this issue of Hue Today Weekly, we would like to take readers to the fish market of Thuan An through a series of photos taken by Duc Quang, a reporter, offering a glimpse into the vibrant daily life of a coastal fishing community.

On the morning of June 7, the Chan May - Lang Co running race officially took place at the Nguyen Van Pedestrian Street along An Cu Lagoon (Lap An Lagoon).

On the morning of May 26th, Party Central Committee member, Deputy Secretary of Hue City Party Committee, and Chairman of Hue City People’s Committee Nguyen Khac Toan led a field survey of the Tam Giang lagoon area, mangrove forests, and coastal infrastructure in the eastern part of the city to assess the potential for developing ecotourism and community-based tourism associated with conserving natural ecosystems and improving local livelihoods.

On May 22, the City People’s Committee, in coordination with the Luxembourg Development Cooperation Agency (LuxDev) and WWF-Vietnam, organized the conference on “Unlocking Green Investment for Nature-based Development in Tam Giang - Cau Hai Lagoon”, with the participation of representatives from Central and local ministries and agencies, international organizations, investment funds, and development partners.

Many residents and visitors coming to Hue have chosen their own unique way to “escape the heat” by heading to the Tam Giang - Cau Hai Lagoon system, where the vast expanse of water and breeze helps ease the oppressive summer heat.

More than half a century since the homeland’s liberation (March 26, 1975 – March 26, 2026), Hue’s urban landscape has undergone significant transformation, marked by newly widened roads, bridges spanning rivers and lagoons, modern urban zones, and an increasingly synchronized technical infrastructure system.

Being around 15km away to the East of Hue City Center, Chuon Lagoon is the most beautiful location to contemplate the sunrise in Tam Giang lagoon system.

With its rich and captivating beauty, Chuon lagoon resembles a painting of nature adorned with refreshing shades of blue from the sky and water.

Located about 30 km north of Hue City, Quang Loi Lagoon (in Quang Loi Commune, Quang Dien District) is an interesting destination of Tam Giang Lagoon, which is the largest brackish water lagoon in Southeast Asia.
