On the morning of September 20, the Executive Committee of Hue City Theater Artist Association, in coordination with Hue Opera House and Hue Royal Traditional Arts Theater, held a ceremony to celebrate Vietnam Theater Day 2026.

Early in the morning, in a three-bay house filled with sea air in Phuong Loc Village (Phu Vinh Commune), 73-year-old Tran Van Than, surrounded by bamboo baskets, miniature boats, and coracles, was moving his hands skillfully with thin bamboo strips. Having spent decades making a living from the sea, though his health no longer allows him to work at sea, his deep affection for his hometown’s sea lives on through every product he makes.

These days, along several alleys on Bao Vinh Street, many old walls are being given a new look with murals depicting ancient houses, riverside landing stages, boats, and the daily life of what was once a trading port.

On August 28, Hue Newspaper and Radio - Television, in coordination with its Youth Union, Thua Thien Hue Construction Joint Stock Company, the City Social Policy Bank, Hong Duc Bookstore, and benefactors, organized the ‘Supporting children to school - Mid-Autumn Festival for children’ and social welfare support program in 2026 in A Luoi 2 Commune.

On the morning of August 18, at the Memorial House of President Ho Chi Minh’s childhood in Duong No Village (Duong No Ward), Hue City Youth and Children’s Center, in coordination with Ho Chi Minh Museum of Hue City, organized the 2026 history-learning journey ‘Following Uncle Ho’s Footsteps - Pride in Our Homeland’s Traditions’.

In the course of researching the cultural heritage of the Nguyen Dynasty in the former Hue imperial capital, researchers often come across precious materials that have been preserved among local families, quietly surviving in the spaces of communal houses, pagodas, ancestral worship halls, or aristocratic residences. Layer upon layer of historical sediment is gradually being brought to light.

It is not even the end of the sixth lunar month, but I have already heard elderly men in my neighborhood enthusiastically asking one another how the upcoming Autumn offering ceremony will be organized at the village communal house, and whether the heads of the clans have made plans to meet yet. It may seem strange that amid the bustle of city life, these elderly men are passionately talking about village affairs. The village communal house is not far away either, just a few dozen meters from my house. “The city also began with villages. Preserving the roots of the village means preserving its culture for future generations. You young people should remember that,” they would tell me whenever I asked.

The traditional Moong house is a unique form of folk architecture, closely associated with the formation and development of the Pa Co community in Truong Son mountain range. In the Pa Co language, the Moong house, also known as Dung Moong, is not merely a house but a shared communal space that symbolizes unity, cohesion, and the community spirit.

Kim Long Garden Houses, located in Kim Long Ward, Hue City, are home to mangosteen trees that are roughly a century old.

On July 29, the City Women’s Union, in coordination with the Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation, provided livelihood support to women members from poor, near-poor, and disadvantaged households in Binh Dien Commune.

On the afternoon of July 27, Deputy Secretary of Hue City Party Committee, Chairman of Hue City People’s Committee Le Tri Thanh chaired a conference to review the progress of the ‘500 Days and Nights Campaign’ to accelerate the search, recovery, and identification of fallen soldiers’ remains, along with the program to replace temporary and dilapidated houses for the biological children of resistance fighters exposed to Agent Orange/dioxin across the city.
