For the first 8 months of 2023, the tourism industry has made a rapid recovery with 1.6 times as many visitors to Hue as the figure for the same period last year. In particular, international visitor arrivals were estimated to reach 672,000 - a 9-fold increase year-on-year. Total revenue from tourism activities has been estimated at 4,600 billion VND, 1.6 times as high asin the same period last year.

Hue tourism enjoys positive results in the first 6 months of the year, including increased visitor numbers, a substantial rise in revenue, and potentials of expanding into international tourist markets. Many hotels and resorts in the Ancient Capital have also received high rankings in evaluations conducted by international tourism organizations.

Specifically, from April 29th to May 3rd, Thua Thien Hue tourism welcomed 99,000 visitor arrivals, an increase of 80% compared to 2022, in which there were about 36.3 thousand international visitors, an increase of 26 times. Guest stay is estimated at 54.4 thousand people, an increase of 70%.

Inflation along with the impacts of the COVID-19 epidemic affects the global economy, causing escalating prices and many difficulties to people’s lives. After the pandemic, people’s travel demand has increased, and the trend of economical travel has emerged since then.

According to the Department of Tourism, in the first 3 months of 2023 (Quarter 1), the estimated number of international tourists visiting Hue is over 255 thousand, a 55-fold increase compared to the same period last year.

On the evening of February 18, the Organizing Committee of Hue-ICT Challenge 2023 said that, till the end of the registration period, there were 1,348 candidates who are junior high school students and senior high school students nationwide registered to participate in Hue-ICT Challenge 2023 contest, nearly 4-fold increase in number compared to the first time held in 2022.

Up to this point, supermarkets in the province have replenished stock of goods in a fairly abundant quantity to serve the Lunar New Year of the Cat 2023 when a higher shopping demand as compared to the previous year is forecasted.
