On the afternoon of March 12th, the Swiss Tourism for Sustainable Development Project in Vietnam officially signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with two leading tourism training institutions in central Vietnam: the School of Hospitality and Tourism - Hue University and Hue Tourism College. Attending the signing ceremony was Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee and Standing Vice Chairman of the Hue City People's Committee, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh.

On the morning of March 11, the Department of Tourism coordinated with its partner units to hold the opening ceremony for the training course on Advanced Tourism and Hospitality Management based on Swiss EHT standards in Hue City for 2026.

After Binh Ngo Lunar New Year 2026, Hue City has not only recorded impressive growth figures in its tourism sector but more importantly, a new approach is gradually taking shape: development rooted in cultural identity, organized with modern thinking, and placing the community at the center.

With the aim of spreading awareness about responsible tourism for a sustainable green Hue, the Department of Tourism has collaborated with the project “Hue - Plastic Smart City in Central Vietnam”/WWF-Vietnam to launch the “Check-in green Hue” contest - Visit Hue, receive gifts, and win a Canon R50!

On the afternoon of March 6, Hue Tourism College (under the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism) held a conference on career guidance and enrollment for 2026. Attending the event were representatives of state management agencies, 51 high schools and secondary schools, as well as businesses and organizations involved in training and human resource development.

According to statistics from the Department of Tourism released on the morning of March 1, the number of tourists to Hue in the first two months continued to rise sharply, estimated at over 1.2 million arrivals, while the number of visitors to the city in February, 2026 alone witnessed an increase of nearly 72%. Especially, the total revenue from tourism rose significantly compared to the previous year.

According to the information released by the Department of Tourism on February 22, during the 9-day Binh Ngo Lunar New Year holiday, the number of visitors to Hue increased sharply year-on-year. Especially, tourism revenue witnessed an increase of 350% compared to the previous year.

Two world heritage cities - York (the UK) and Kyoto (Japan) - have been implementing Net Zero tourism models that Hue can refer and adapt to its local context.

From the morning of the first day of the Lunar New Year (February 17), the spring travel atmosphere in Hue has been vibrant and festive. Visitors from across Vietnam, along with international tourists, have chosen the former imperial capital as their holiday destination, creating a lively tourism scene on the very first day of the New Year.

On February 13th, Mr. Nguyen Khac Toan, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Hue City Party Committee, and Chairman of the Hue City People’s Committee, conducted a field survey and inspection of inland waterway tourism routes to assess their current status, development potential, and prospects for investment in tourism products and services.

In the coming time, the tourism sector will enhance the promotion of culinary tourism through culinary events and festivals, and create unique culinary tours to promote the advantages of local cuisine and enhance the tourism experience for visitors.

The tourism potential and resources in localities are abundant, and favorable for developing community tourism, and rural agricultural tourism, etc.

The tourism sector will convey the messages about plastic-free tourist destinations and tours through the promotion on at least 3 platforms with the highest reach of tourists.

In the rainy weather, excitement and joy were clearly visible on the faces of international guests.

The product development process must be associated with the process of upgrading the quality of facilities, techniques and services, tourist attractions, and especially the promotion of tourism destinations and products.
