On the morning of August 28, Vietnam Railways Corporation (VNR), in collaboration with Quang Tri Province People’s Committee and Hue People’s Committee, officially launched the ‘Phong Nha - Hue Imperial City: A World Heritage Journey’ tourist train at Dong Hoi Railway Station. Later that day, Hue City welcomed the train and held a ceremony to mark its arrival.

On the afternoon of August 24, the Defense - Economic Unit 92, in coordination with the People’s Committee of A Luoi 4 Commune, held the closing ceremony for a free summer English course in 2026 for primary school students in the A So project area.

On August 15, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hue City, in coordination with Hue University, held a ceremony to award scholarships to students facing difficult circumstances in the city.

On the morning of August 14th, Hue City Association of the Blind held a ceremony marking the 20th anniversary of the Vocational Training and Employment Center for the Blind (August 17th, 2006 - August 17th, 2026). Over the past two decades, the Center has made sustained efforts in vocational training and job creation, helping people with visual impairments gradually build confidence, become more self-reliant, and achieve greater stability in their lives.

It is not even the end of the sixth lunar month, but I have already heard elderly men in my neighborhood enthusiastically asking one another how the upcoming Autumn offering ceremony will be organized at the village communal house, and whether the heads of the clans have made plans to meet yet. It may seem strange that amid the bustle of city life, these elderly men are passionately talking about village affairs. The village communal house is not far away either, just a few dozen meters from my house. “The city also began with villages. Preserving the roots of the village means preserving its culture for future generations. You young people should remember that,” they would tell me whenever I asked.

On the morning of August 11, leaders of Hue Central Hospital said the hospital had held a discharge ceremony for patient N.T.L., 34, from Quang Ngai Province, who recently underwent the hospital’s 24th heart transplant. After nearly two months of intensive treatment, the patient has made a good recovery, with stable health indicators, and was deemed fit to return home.

On August 9, at Ecogarden urban area in Vy Da Ward, Hue City, representatives of the investor consortium, led by Cotana Capital Investment and Real Estate Development JSC (Cotana Capital), held a ceremony to inaugurate and hand over apartments at W1 - West Sky (OXH1) building to residents.

The 6th National Student Biology Olympiad 2026, hosted by Vietnam Association of Biological Sciences in collaboration with Duy Tan University, ended with an awards ceremony on August 8.

The 2026 Hue City Open Pickleball Tournament for the Uyen Phuong Cup opened on the morning of August 8 at Uyen Phuong Pickleball courts at No. 150 Nguyen Trai St. The event is part of Hue Sports Festival 2026, jointly organized by the Department of Culture and Sports and Uyen Phuong Sports JSC. Vice Chairman of Hue City People’s Committee Tran Huu Thuy Giang attended the opening ceremony and delivered remarks.

On the evening of August 6, Hue Fellow Countrymen Association in Ho Chi Minh City officially launched the Hue Hometown Football Club (Hue Hometown FC) and held a send-off ceremony for the team ahead of the 2026 National Hometown Associations Football Tournament.
