On the morning of August 21st, Hue Central Hospital, in coordination with Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy, opened the 14th Annual Hue Scientific Conference on Cancer Prevention and Control. The conference brought together more than 600 delegates, including over 30 international experts, speakers and lecturers, to exchange professional expertise and provide updates on the latest advances in cancer diagnosis and treatment.

By hosting the Hue Heritage and International Music Festival 2026 - Hue Wonderverse Music Fest 2026, which is scheduled from August 30 to September 1, alongside the National Day Holiday on September 2, Hue City is expected to witness a surge in tourist arrivals. This may lead to a local ‘fully booked’ situation at certain peak times. Drawing from the experience of the last April 30 - May 1 holiday, the local tourism sector is developing plans to enhance its reception capacity and service quality.

Among Vietnamese cities, Hue stands out as an ideal city to build a future "15-Minute City." There, all daily essential needs of residents - such as work, education, shopping, healthcare, entertainment, and relaxation - can be reached within a 15-minute walk or bicycle ride. This idea is currently being pursued and researched by female architect Tran Thi Quynh Huong, a young Hue native dedicated to sustainable urban development.

After a period of preparation, the Hue - Phong Nha heritage train will officially be launched on August 28. Notably, starting August 17, the railway sector has begun selling tickets for the HQ1/HQ2 train pair, named ‘World Heritage Journey’, connecting Hue Ancient Capital with Phong Nha - Ke Bang.

On August 19 and September 2, Vietnamese citizens will be granted free admission to heritage sites managed by Hue Monuments Conservation Center. The initiative offers an opportunity for visitors to explore Hue’s heritage during the public holidays, while gaining deeper understanding of the historical and cultural values of the Ancient Capital.

Among about 3,000 dishes documented nationwide, over 1,700 are believed to be prepared in Hue styles, bearing the distinctive hallmarks of the former imperial capital’s cuisine. This rich culinary heritage is one of the key reasons that Hue has chosen gastronomy as the focus of its application to join the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN).

In the course of researching the cultural heritage of the Nguyen Dynasty in the former Hue imperial capital, researchers often come across precious materials that have been preserved among local families, quietly surviving in the spaces of communal houses, pagodas, ancestral worship halls, or aristocratic residences. Layer upon layer of historical sediment is gradually being brought to light.

“Chan May - Lang Co needs to be developed into a growth hub for industry, logistics, services and tourism in Hue City and the central region. Every decision on infrastructure investment must focus on long-term effectiveness, synchronization, and a clear roadmap, while having the capacity to create breakthroughs in socio-economic development,” Chairman of Hue City People’s Committee Le Tri Thanh emphasized that at a meeting with the Department of Industry and Trade and the Management Board of Hue City Economic and Industrial Zones on August 12 to discuss infrastructure investment in economic zones, industrial parks, and industrial clusters, as well as investment attraction.

From August 10 to 12, a team of staff from the Faculty of Animal Sciences and Veterinary Medicine (University of Agriculture and Forestry, Hue University) collaborated with a team of doctors from Hue Central Hospital to successfully carry out a series of trials of an automated surgical robotic arm system on an animal model (pigs).

On the morning of August 12, Vice Chairman of Hue City People’s Committee Ha Van Tuan received and held a working session with Mr. Lasse Pedersen Hjortshøj, Commercial Counsellor and Head of Economic Diplomacy and Trade at the Embassy of Denmark in Vietnam, along with representatives from Carlsberg Vietnam.
