Peaceful meditation place

HNN.VN - Huyen Khong Son Thuong Pagoda is less known by tourists because of its location deep in the valley, surrounded by mountains and pine hills. This is a tranquil, peaceful shelter for those who want to escape the city.

Huyen Khong Son Thuong Pagoda belongs to the Nam Tong sect (Hìnayàna). The construction of the pagoda was completed in 1989, after dozens of years, thanks to the efforts of monks and Buddhists. From a wild, arid, weedy hill region, this place has become a paradise on earth, with immense forest trees and serene nature.

The temple is located at a place 300m above sea level, surrounded by forest and lakes, so the atmosphere here is strangely mild and pleasant. The pagoda space has an area of more than 10,000m2, including the Outer Hall and the Inner Hall. The Outer Hall is a place of living and worship, and the Inner Hall is devoted entirely as a space of meditation.

The artistic space is not frivolous. The main construction material is wood and not elaborately decorated; but instead, it is very harmonious with the surrounding nature. Bamboo houses with thatched roofs nestling among the green of the mountains give visitors a sense of tranquility.

Coming to Hue, let you spend a morning at Huyen Khong Son Thuong Pagoda and enjoy the peaceful, quiet space. Take a deep breath to enjoy the fresh air and let your worries be carried off with the sound of the temple bell. You will feel a strange sense of peace.

Green Huong River

A friend of mine just came from the Southeastern region to visit Hue. After a day visiting various destinations, from the Imperial Citadel to the tombs of Emperors Gia Long and Minh Mang, then heading to the Van Thanh - Vo Thanh temples and Thien Mu Pagoda, my friend warmly remarked: “In Hue, wherever you go, you can see the Huong River. Now I understand why people here are so gentle and friendly. In this scene, by this river, it’s hard even to get upset!”.

When people think of Hue, many envision a serene land “steeped” in Buddhism with hundreds of temples and pagodas. Amid the bustling rhythm of a modern Hue, life behind each pagoda gate is far from dull, but it is a refined embodiment of spiritual beauty that deeply enriches the inner world of many residents of the Ancient Capital. Here, every scene, every space, every presence expressed a quiet, profound stillness, like a sutra in motion.

Sacred Con Son ancient pagoda

In 2012, I first visited Chi Linh - Hai Duong and toured Con Son pagoda. Having had the opportunity to visit and worship at many pagodas across Vietnam, Con Son pagoda left a deep impression on me from the very first glance, due to its scenery, its ancient charm, and an unexplainable sense of sacred understanding. Returning in 2025, that feeling remains as intact as the first time. I respectfully share with readers some photos of this ancient pagoda, which is over 700 years old. And if you have the chance, let you visit once to admire and contemplate.

Hue - The land of peaceful rivers

Flowing through the center of Hue City, the Huong River, a heritage river, is one of the iconic symbols of Hue Ancient Capital. Visitors to Hue will surely be enchanted not only by the Huong River but also by the peaceful, tranquil, and vibrant beauty of the Dong Ba River, the An Cuu River, and the Ngu Ha River, etc. This is why Hue is known as the “city of rivers”. Associated with over 700 years of history in expanding and developing the land of Thuan Hoa - Phu Xuan, each of these rivers is not just a natural landscape, but also a historical and cultural witness to this land.
