Germany supports the restoration of three items of Phung Tien Temple

HNN.VN - On the morning of September 29, the Hue Monuments Conservation Centre and the German Cultural Conservation Association jointly held the groundbreaking ceremony for the 3-item conservation project at Phung Tien Temple (The Citadel), including: the portal, the screen and the miniature landscapes, combined with intensive technical training.

The project is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the German Embassy in Hanoi with over 2.8 billion VND, and the reciprocal budget of the locality is 784 million VND. Attending the ceremony were Mr. Christian Berger, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Vietnam and his wife, representing the sponsoring partner; together with Mr Nguyen Dung, Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee, representing the provincial leaders.

Phung Tien Temple is one of the five important shrines of the Nguyen Dynasty, built in the 10th year of Emperor Minh Mang’s reign (1829). The project of preserving and restoring the portal, the screen and the miniature landscapes, combined with intensive technical training at Phung Tien Temple has applied the method of fresco recovery (watercolor painting on fresh mortar) and the colored mortar building blocks with international standards, aiming to preserve and restore the whole building in the coming time. The project duration is one year. This is the fifth project in Hue sponsored by the German Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ cultural sponsorship program.
