Thrilling boat racing event on Nhu Y river

HNN.VN - The first annual boat racing event of Thuy Thanh commune (Huong Thuy town) kicked off on the morning of August 30th on Nhu Y River (at the community tourism spot of Thanh Toan Tiled-Roof Bridge), marking the start of a series of activities to celebrate numerous important local events.

Gathering nearly 300 rowers from 9 racing teams of 9 hamlets: Van The Thuong, Van The Trung, Van The Nam, Van The Dap, Thanh Toan, Thanh Tuyen, Thanh Thuy, Lang Xa Con, and Lang Xa Bau, at the event, the teams competed in 11 races, including 1 Cung race, 9 Tien races, and 1 Thai Binh race.

In addition to the boat race, from August 30th to the end of September 4th, at the community tourism site of Thanh Toan Tiled-Roof Bridge (Thuy Thanh commune), various interesting activities will take place. These include: For the first time, the 9 hamlets will hold a ceremony to worship the spirit of Mrs. Tran Thi Dao - the person who contributed to building Thanh Toan Tiled-Roof Bridge; inaugurating the headquarters of the Party Committee - People's Council - People's Committee - Fatherland Front of Thuy Thanh commune; announcing the award "Introducing local history and culture through video clips"; celebrations and performances from the 9 hamlets and schools in the commune; enjoyable activities and experiences at the Night Market of Tiled-Roof Bridge.

Mr. Dang Van Hiep, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Thuy Thanh commune, stated that in addition to celebrating the 78th anniversary of the victorious August Revolution and the National Day on September 2nd, this series of activities also holds the significance of a day of great national unity, aiming to mobilize and acknowledge the strength of the people in participating in the construction and development of the economy, society, national defence, and security in general, as well as enhancing the building of the new countryside and elevating Thuy Thanh commune to become an urban ward under Huong Thuy town, specifically.
