Taking care of the New Year’s rice seeds

TTH.VN - Facing less favourable weather in the days after Tet holiday, with their usual hard-working unyielding spirit, local farmers put their springtime activities on hold to go to the fields and take care of their rice. Their usual jobs are to transplant, fertilize, weed, and pump water for the irrigation system.

Replant crops for the new harvest

According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, there have been more than 28,000 hectares of rice sown for this year's winter-spring crop across the province. Almost 100% of the area has been sown with over 90% of the seeds being of short-term and very short-term varieties. Despite the unfavourable weather, the rice seedlings are still growing well, giving the hope for a bountiful season to come.

Thua Thien Hue Weekly would like to present to the readers some images of the local farmers working on the field in the New Year taken by Nguyen Khoa Huy.
