Hue Monuments Conservation Center and the Department of Education and Training continue to cooperate in developing heritage education program for students.

The two organizations reviewed the progress of the heritage education program for the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 school years, and outlined the plans for the 2024-2025 program. They also discussed expanding heritage education for younger generations.

During the 2022-2023 school year, 263 groups participated in the program, consisting of 23,286 students and 1,898 teachers. In the 2023-2024 school year, the participation grew to 306 groups, with 29,830 students and 2,443 teachers.

For the 2024-2025 school year, Hue Monuments Conservation Center will collaborate with the Department of Education and Training to run the heritage education program across schools in the province from September 2024 to May 2025.

The heritage education program, designed by Hue Monuments Conservation Center, offers four programs for preschoolers, seven for primary school students, seven for secondary school students, and six for high school students.

Schools can select and register for the heritage education programs through the Department of Education and Training and the Hue City Education Department. Hue Monuments Conservation Center will provide necessary spaces, personnel, facilities, and equipment to support the program for students.

The goal of the program is to gradually integrate Hue's cultural heritage education into schools, equipping students with basic knowledge about the historical and cultural values of their local area and the nation of Vietnam. This fosters the development of students' knowledge, skills, and character, enhancing the quality of comprehensive education.

Additionally, the program aims to bring Hue's heritage closer to younger generations in general, and students of Thua Thien Hue province in particular, helping them appreciate and respect their cultural heritage. It also encourages the preservation, protection, and promotion of the valuable cultural heritage left by the ancestors.

So that Tuong is not just a memory

In the familiar space of schools, tuong - a traditional stage art form once thought to be “hard to approach” for young people - is being brought to life through hands-on experiences. Through makeup sessions, lessons, and opportunities to explore and feel the values of tuong firsthand, this approach is helping younger generations grow closer to cultural heritage and creating new ways to incorporate traditional culture into schools.
