Gathering nearly 250 male and female swimmers from 24 provinces and cities in all fields, in the framework of the championship, the swimmers contested in 74 contents, including 45 swimming contents and 29 contents in diving.

This year, Hue City sent 14 athletes (including 8 swimmers and 4 divers) to the championship with an aim to gain experiences and learn from others. According to Mr. Tran Van Vuong, Deputy Head of the Professional Department of Swimming – Diving in Hue, local athletes are quite young (most of them are 9 to 15 years old) and lack experience in major competitions. Furthermore, the weather in Hue has been quite cold recently, making the athletes have to train on dryland most of the time, instead of practicing in the water. Therefore, it is difficult for them to compete for medals with the athletes from other provinces and cities.

The experts claimed that with the rich tradition and strength, top 3 positions in the championship will be contested among athletes from Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang, and the Military.

The championship will last until March 21.
