Nearly 90 athletes participate in the chess and Chinese chess tournament in Phu Xuan District

HNN.VN - On February 21, the Phu Xuan District Center for Culture, Information, and Sports organized the opening ceremony and competition for the Chess and Chinese Chess Tournament, within the framework of the 1st Phu Xuan District Sports Congress in 2025.

The tournament is held to celebrate the 94th anniversary of the founding of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (March 26, 1931 - March 26, 2025) and the 79th anniversary of Vietnam Sports Day (March 27, 1946 - March 27, 2025). It also aims to further promote the campaign “All people doing exercise to follow great Uncle Ho's example”, contributing to the development of the mass sports movement and the practice and competition of chess and Chinese chess in the area.

According to the leaders of Phu Xuan District Center for Culture, Information, the tournament has become a tradition and has been continuously maintained for many years.

This year, the tournament gathers nearly 90 athletes from 9 wards under the district, including many excellent players who have won high rankings in chess and Chinese chess tournaments over the years. Athletes compete in a 7-round Swiss-system format.

Taking place over two days, from February 21 to 22, the tournament promises to bring many dramatic and exciting matches, creating opportunities for athletes to exchange, learn professional experience, and interact among players.
