The National High School Sports Tournament are a significant event for school sports. This year, the tournament attracted nearly 2,300 student-athletes from 53 provinces and cities nationwide. These athletes are competing for 186 sets of medals across five sports, including: football, basketball, swimming, athletics, and Vovinam.
Participants in the tournament include students from primary schools, junior high schools, and high schools, as well as continuing education students aged 18 and under who are currently studying at educational institutions within the national education system. This event serves as a festival where students have the opportunity to interact, learn, compete, and showcase their talents and courage.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Hoang Duc Minh, Director of the Student Affairs Department, the Ministry of Education and Training, and Head of the Organizing Committee, emphasized that physical development for students is one of the key goals in the innovation strategy, contributing to the comprehensive education of Vietnamese people. The Ministry of Education and Training has always affirmed that, alongside teaching knowledge and personality, physical training is an essential task in general schools. School sports activities not only contribute to improving health but also foster willpower, discipline, and team spirit. From there, it contributes to forming the personality of students - the future masters of the country.

Mr. Hoang Duc Minh also encouraged the student-athletes to compete with honesty, solidarity, and nobility, to maximize their abilities, overcome themselves, respect the rules and regulations, and respect their opponents. He hoped they would not only achieve high results but also become role models for fair play.
The 2025 National High School Sports Tournament aims to promote the sports movement in schools, and to maintain and continue the “All people doing exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho” movement. Through this tournament, the Ministry of Education and Training urged Departments of Education and Training and schools to continue paying more attention and investing further in the school sports movement, discovering and nurturing sports talents, and building a comprehensive, healthy, and dynamic educational environment to meet the requirements for developing high-quality human resources in the new era.
