Many students receive “Five-Good Student” and “January Star” awards at various levels

HNN.VN - On the afternoon of January 9th, Hue University organized a ceremony commemorating the 76th anniversary of the Traditional Day of Vietnamese Students and Vietnam Students’ Association (January 9th, 1950 - January 9th, 2026).

Over 60 students honored for outstanding academic and personal achievements

Awarding of “Five-Good Students” at Hue University level

This was an important event aimed at honoring the heroic traditions of generations of youth, recognizing achievements, and launching a peak emulation campaign to celebrate the 95th anniversary of the founding of Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (March 26th, 1931 - March 26th, 2026), toward the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

The commemorative ceremony vividly re-created the historical flow from the flame of struggle on January 9th, 1950, in Sai Gon - Cho Lon, marked by the sacrifice of hero Tran Van On, to the glorious chapters bearing the distinctive identity of Hue pupils and students.

From the resonant student strikes of 1949 to the spirit of “cutting through the Truong Son Range to save the nation,” the spirit of the youth of the Ancient Capital has always been closely associated with the fusion of scientific knowledge and profound patriotism. That tradition continues to be nurtured at Hue University - a multidisciplinary training center with more than 65 years of history, where modern knowledge blends harmoniously with the depth of heritage culture.

A highlight of the program was the recognition of impressive figures from the “Five-Good Student” movement and the “January Star” Award in the 2024-2025 academic year, affirming the aspiration and determination of Hue students to rise. At the central level, Hue University proudly had one student receive the exemplary “January Star” Award, while also earning the title of “Five-Good Student”, and one additional student receiving the “January Star” Award.

At the city level, 10 students were recognized as “Five-Good Students,” and 34 students received the “January Star” Award. At the Hue University level alone, 59 students were honored with the “January Star” Award, and 317 students achieved the title of “Five-Good Student”. These outstanding individuals constitute an important human resource in realizing the goal of building Hue University into a National University.

Hue University Students’ Association committed to “opening a runway” for research aspirations, with the goal of supporting at least 1,000 international scientific publications and selecting a minimum of 200 exemplary technology projects for investment connection. In addition, implementing the national foreign language program is considered a key to helping students become global citizens, bringing Hue’s cultural identity to the world while bringing modern technology back to serve the homeland.

At the end of the ceremony, the Standing Committee of Hue University Youth Union launched a peak emulation campaign celebrating the 95th anniversary of the Union’s founding, calling on each Youth Union member and young person to continue promoting the tradition of being “both morally sound and professionally competent”. With a pioneering and creative spirit, Hue University youth commit to being a core force in the renewal process, ready for new breakthroughs, and making direct contributions to the development of a dynamic heritage city and a strong Vietnam in the new era.

There are people who work their entire lives quietly, yet their footprints remain deeply imprinted on the lands they have passed through, like an underground stream that silently nourishes an entire forest. Associate Professor Dr. Le Van Thang, Vice President of Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment, former Director of the Institute of Resources and Environment at Hue University, and former Dean of the Faculty of Environment at the University of Sciences, Hue University, is one such person.

Students Stay in Hue to Celebrate Lunar New Year

As Lunar New Year approaches, areas around universities grow increasingly quiet. Traffic thins out, while many eateries and photocopy shops close for the holiday. Boarding houses fall silent as most students head home by the 24th or 25th day of the lunar December; those who remain are mainly from distant hometowns, working part-time, or hoping to experience Tet in a new place.
