Hue to host first-ever off-road car racing event

HNN.VN - For the first time, the “Victory Challenge Sailun Cup 2024 & Car Camping Festival” off-road car racing event will take place at Thuy Tien Lake Park, Hue City. The event is organized by Thua Thien Hue Department of Culture and Sports, Southeast Asian Magazine, and Ky Nguyen (Epoch) Group Corporation, and will officially commence from June 20th to 23th.

 For the first time, the Camping and stock SUV categories will be included in the competition.

This off-road car racing event will be the first of its kind in Hue during the Hue Festival, adding a unique event to the Festival's attractions. Notably, the race is a key opening event for “Hue Sport Festival 2024”, a community health sports festival. The “Victory Challenge Sailun Cup 2024 & Car Camping Festival” is expected to attract a large number of residents and tourists, helping to promote the brand and tourism image of Thua Thien Hue.

The race will be divided into five categories: Basic Pickup, Upgraded Pickup, Open-Professional, Stock SUV, and Camping. The race will take place at Thuy Tien Lake Park in Thuy Bang commune, Hue City, a popular check-in spot for many domestic and international tourists. The park features a professionally designed racetrack that does not alter the natural terrain. 

As of now, the race has attracted over 86 racing teams from across the country, registering with a wide variety of vehicles and brands.

According to the organizing committee, in line with the goal of organizing a racing event to develop its community and expand off-road racing in Vietnam, the Camping and stock SUV categories will be included for the first time. These two new racing categories have received strong attention and support from community, with 14 teams registering for the Camping category and 16 teams registering for the Stock SUV category. 

Additionally, this race is unique in that it attracts the most female athletes, with some participants at almost 60 years old. It also received support from a large number of off-road car clubs nationwide, including Three-region Camping Team, Offroad Ha Noi Club, Off-road HCMC Club, Pickup Quag Nam Club, Pickup Dak Lak Club, PDC - Pickup DaNang Club, Offroad Vung Tau/Dong Nai Club, Offroad Binh Duong, Binh Phưoc Club, Offroad Nghe An/Ha Tinh/ Lang Son Club, PVC - Pickup Vietnam Club, etc.

Alongside the racing event, the car camping festival will feature activities such as camping, team-building, beautiful car/camping car display contests, and a gala night. At the end of the event, the organizers will present charitable gifts to those in need in the area.
