Hue City has 5 students from Quoc Hoc - Hue High School for the Gifted taking part in the exam: Tran Thanh Binh and Tang Hao Nhien (physics); Nguyen Doan Quoc Anh (chemistry); Vo Huy Hoang (biology); and Phan Cong Dung (informatics). All had previously won first or second prizes at the national excellent student exam.

Under the regulations, candidates invited to sit the exam were required to meet a minimum score threshold in each subject: 26 in mathematics; 23.25 in physics; 26.375 in chemistry; 25 in biology; and 24.79 in informatics.

The exam is designed to align closely with regional and international formats, with informatics in particular following procedures similar to those used in international Olympiads. Invigilation and marking were conducted rigorously, ensuring objectivity and integrity.

Based on the results, the Ministry of Education and Training will select national teams for the 2026 international and regional Olympiads. The mathematics team is expected to compete at the International Mathematical Olympiad in China; the physics team will attend the Asian Physics Olympiad in South Korea before final selection for the International Physics Olympiad in Colombia; while the chemistry, biology, and informatics teams will compete in international contests in Uzbekistan, Lithuania, and other countries.

Vietnam’s oldest cadastral record preserved in Hue

Hue is a land that bears the imprint of the southward migration and territorial expansion undertaken more than 700 years ago by the people of ancient Thuan Hoa. Very few documents reveal the timing of these migration waves or the organization and formation of Vietnamese villages in the region. Yet during fieldwork, I gained access to several ancient Han-Nom documents recording the migration, land reclamation, and establishment of villages and communes. Most notably is a cadastral record dating to the 9th year of the Dai Hoa reign (1451) under King Le Nhan Tong, compiled exactly 575 years ago.
