Attendees included Provincial Party Committee members: the Head of the provincial Party Committee’s Mass Mobilization Committee - Nguyen Chi Tai; and the Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Binh.
At the ceremony, Provincial Youth Union leaders announced that 25 years ago, the year 2000 was designated as “the Year of Vietnam Youth”, marking the official establishment of the Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign. This was the first milestone in the historical journey of volunteer summers for youth across the country.
In Thua Thien Hue, the campaign was first launched in 2000 under the name “Student Volunteer Summer Campaign for Community Life.” In 2009, it was renamed the “Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign” and has attracted many young people, including students and various groups such as civil servants, armed forces members, and employees from businesses.
The achievements of the 25 years carrying out the Thua Thien Hue Summer Campaign are notable, with impressive statistics, including over 1,500 “Bright - Green - Clean - Beautiful - Safe” roads constructed; approximately 1,600 kilometers of street lighting repaired or newly installed; 365 “Beautiful Youth Roads” 232 , “Green, Clean, Beautiful Youth Streets” and 211 “Clean Street Corners and Sidewalks” maintained; 709 “Compassion Houses” built; and over 2,200 free health check-up and medicine distribution events held.

“This is a significant achievement that has been realized by various levels of the Youth Union and Youth Associations in the province, along with tens of thousands of young volunteers from Thua Thien Hue. Their efforts have contributed to transforming the landscapes of both rural and urban areas, enhancing the social and cultural lives of many localities. It is also a beautiful journey in the hearts of the youth of Thua Thien Hue, those who have continued to dedicate themselves to the community, the country, and their homeland”.
On this occasion, to acknowledge and commend the organizations and individuals who have achieved outstanding results in the summer youth volunteer movement, the Provincial Youth Union Standing Committee and the Secretariat of the Vietnam Youth Federation of Thua Thien Hue Province awarded certificates of merit to the 11 most exemplary organizations and 17 outstanding individuals.
