Dan Dien Commune Allocates VND 1.4 Billion to Support Residents to Purchase Straw Baler

HNN.VN - According to the information released on the morning of August 26 by the People’s Committee of Dan Dien Commune, the locality provided financial support worth over VND 1.4 billion for locals to purchase 8 straw balers to facilitate the collection of crop residues during the 2026 summer-autumn rice harvest.

The funding support was provided under Resolution No. 03/2025/NQ-HĐND, dated January 7, 2025, issued by Hue City People’s Council on policies to support and encourage agricultural production development in Hue City by 2030. Under the resolution, the city will cover 50% of the investment cost for organizations and individuals in purchasing straw balers for collecting crop residues.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tien, Chairman of the Dan Dien Commune People’s Committee, noted that supporting residents in investing in straw balers is part of the locality’s efforts to accelerate mechanization in agricultural production, while creating jobs and increasing farmers’ incomes. Furthermore, using machines to collect crop residues after harvest also helps discourage farmers from open burning, thereby reducing the risk of environmental pollution and minimizing potential impacts on traffic safety and agricultural production.

According to the Dan Dien Commune People’s Committee, each straw baler costs from VND 300-400 million, depending on its type and capacity. With 8 balers invested in this summer-autumn crop, the locality now has additional equipment for collecting crop residues, meeting the farming needs of residents in the commune and surrounding areas.

In the 2026 summer-autumn crop, Dan Dien Commune cultivated nearly 1,700 hectares of rice, with about 80% of the area harvested as of August 26. The local authorities are mobilizing labor, equipment, and machinery to ensure the harvest is largely completed by August 30 as planned, minimizing losses from adverse weather.
