A consultation on naming the coming centrally-governed city

HNN.VN - On January 10th, the Office of the Provincial People's Committee (PPC) announced the start of PPC’s 2-month opinion consultation about models of the establishment of the coming centrally-governed city.

Accordingly, the options for consultation are as follows:

As for establishing administrative units, Option 1 is to establish 3 urban districts (Northern, Southern, and Huong Thuy), 2 towns (Huong Tra and Phong Dien) and 4 rural districts. Option 2 is to establish 2 urban districts (Northern and Southern), 3 towns (Huong Thuy, Huong Tra, and Phong Dien) and 4 rural districts.

Regarding names of the upcoming centrally-governed city, Option 1 is Hue city while Option 2 is Thua Thien Hue city.

As for names of the district-level administrative units, there will be Thua Thien, Thuan Hoa, and Ngu Binh for the urban districts to the south of Huong River, and Phu Xuan, Thuan Hoa, and Huong Giang for those to the north of the river.

Previously, at the Conference on Provincial Planning for the period of 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050 and the plan for administrative units of the centrally-governed city, the establishment of 3 urban districts, 2 towns and 4 rural districts gained a majority of votes in a poll. Regarding the name of the coming centrally-governed city, the majority plan was Hue City. As for names of district-level administrative units, the majority option went for Thuan Hoa as a southern urban district of Huong river and Phu Xuan as the northern one.
