3 waiting lounges and free drinking water dispenser stations launched at beaches

HNN.VN - On the morning of August 23, the project “Hue - A City to Reduce Plastics in Central Vietnam” (TVA project), in collaboration with the People's Committees of Thuan An Ward and Phu Vinh Commune, launched 3 waiting lounges and free drinking water dispenser stations at Phu Thuan, Phu Dien, and Vinh Thanh beaches.

These are coastal areas that attract a large number of local residents and visitors. The addition of these free drinking water dispenser stations not only provides residents and visitors with easy access to clean, safe drinking water, but also significantly helps reduce the use of single-use plastic bottles, which are a major cause of marine pollution today.

The water stations are installed in coastal areas with a modern design that is user-friendly and blends with the seaside landscape. Each station includes a waiting lounge, creating a convenient resting spot while also providing free water to the community. The water purifiers use IMPACT filtration technology with a dual-pharmaceutical filter membrane and high-grade activated carbon to remove impurities, bacteria, and heavy metals while retaining natural minerals, ensuring the water meets health safety standards. Residents and visitors only need to bring their own bottles or containers to refill, or can drink directly from the tap for free.

Mr. Le Dinh Phong, Chairman of the Thuan An Ward People's Committee, stated that the launching of these waiting lounges and free drinking water dispenser stations at Phu Thuan beaches is not just an infrastructure project to serve the needs of residents and visitors, but also a new step in shaping their mindset and awareness about reducing single-use plastic and actively using personal bottles to refill at the station, so as to reduce plastic waste.

In the coming time, local authorities will continue to coordinate with relevant agencies to proactively protect and maintain the operation of these free waiting lounges and free water stations to ensure their long-term and effective use. They will also strengthen communication to raise community awareness about bringing personal water bottles to refill instead of using single-use plastic. They will closely coordinate with various departments and the project to replicate this model in other areas.

It is known that since 2022, the TVA Project has installed a total of 12 free waiting lounges and free water stations at 11 tourist destinations in Hue City. On this occasion, local authorities, agencies, and organizations also organized a campaign to clean up and collect trash, contributing to cleaning the environment at the beaches.
