On December 20, Mr. Nguyen Duc Loc, Director of Hue City Museum of History, announced that the unit, in collaboration with Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam Cultural and Scientific Activity Center, is organizing a thematic exhibition themed: “From Thang Long to Phu Xuan - The Journey of Vietnamese ceramics”.
The event is held at the Thai Hoc Hall within the Special National Monument of Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam (Temple of Literature), on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the twinning relationship between Hanoi and Hue (1960 - 2025).
Featuring hundreds of artifacts, the exhibition introduces viewers to the formation and development process of famous ceramic crafts from the two ancient capitals: Bat Trang ceramics - Thang Long - Hanoi; and, Phuoc Tich ceramics - Phu Xuan - Hue.
The exhibition focuses on two main themes: “Bat Trang ceramics from ancient Thang Long to modern Hanoi”, and “From Phuoc Tich ceramics to the Nguyen Dynasty porcelain”. The display highlights the typical traditional characteristics, and the innovations in each production stage of these two once-famous ceramic lines that continue to be passed down until today. Each ceramic line tells a story of earth, fire, people, and the cultural region from which it originated.
In addition, visitors will have the opportunity to learn about and experience several practical steps in creating traditional handmade ceramic products. This activity aims to honor the quiet contributions of Bat Trang and Phuoc Tich artisans in preserving and promoting the traditional values of these craft villages. Thereby, it contributes to educating the younger generation on preserving the traditional cultural beauty handed down by their ancestors.
The exhibition runs until December 28.
