Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Phu Xuan District People’s Committee, Mr. Hoang Tan Ninh stated that the traditional boat race between the two districts took place in a festive atmosphere, as the nation joyfully celebrates major holidays of the homeland and the country, heading to the 94th anniversary of the founding of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, the 79th anniversary of the Sports and Physical Training Industry’s Traditional Day, the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Hue City, and in preparation for the National Tourism Year and Hue Festival 2025.

The traditional boat race was held to meet the public’s demand for enjoying culture and national sports activities. It provided an opportunity for athletes to interact and strengthen solidarity between the units in the two districts. This event also served as a chance to promote traditional cultural and sports activities of the homeland, linked to boosting tourism, creating a lively atmosphere to drive social - economic development, while continuing to promote the movement “People do exercise following the role model of the great Uncle Ho”.

Participating the boat race this year were nearly 500 male and female athletes from 12 participating units, including 7 teams from Phu Xuan District, 4 teams from Thuan Hoa District, and 1 guest team from Phu An Commune (Phu Vang). The teams competed in 9 race categories using 9-seat boats, which include the men’s Cung and Pha races (3 laps, 6 turns), and the men’s and women’s Tien races 1, 2, and 3 (2 laps, 4 turns).

After the opening ceremony, the racing teams from various localities began competing passionately and intensely, cheered on by supporters and residents along the banks of the Huong River and Dong Ba River.
