Escaping the chaos of life, I went to Kim Long, a place where writer Hoang Phu Ngoc Tuong had spent his days under the leafy greens of An Hien, a place he lovingly called, “the shelter of the soul.”

Hoanh phi (horizontal lacquered boards) and cau doi (parallel sentences) are indispensable in the worship space in pagodas, communal houses and ancestral houses in Hue. Meticulously carved patterns on them reveal origin and tradition of Hue people handed down through generations.

In the exhibition space at the College of Arts - Hue University, the Third or 2018 Young Artists Exhibition now showcases 52 works by 51 young painters aged under 40.
