HNN.VN - Participating in the International Art Festival Week Hue 2024, Cergy Hip hop Dance Group from Cergy Dance Training Center (France) will provide a performance titled "The flows", with the desire to bring to the audience a comprehensive view of hip hop culture with the flows between the internal and external forces.

Cergy Hip hop Dance Group will bring to the audience a comprehensive view of hip hop culture

The Cergy Hip hop Dance Group consists of four dancers, namely Laura, Mariana, Théotim, and Wanda, who are from different places. These dancers are specialized in hip hop and house dance; who are currently working, teaching, and pursuing individual artistic projects. All of four dancers have completed the training courses on "Cultural transmitters through Hip hop dances" and professional dance teachers.

What unites the group is their love and passion for hip hop culture, and how to convey different hip hop styles while still preserving the essence, spontaneity, and above all, the social connection through each dance step.

“The flows” of Cergy offers the audience a comprehensive view of hip hop culture. The physical movements of the dances, along with the music and surrounding atmosphere, will convey the flows between the internal and external forces.

In the dance group, Wanda Attia, the dancer, who is driven by a deep sense of gratitude for life, finds inspiration for her art in the moments of encounter and sharing. Her quest for learning extends to connecting everything: music, rhythm, and the values of hip hop culture.

Being passionate about dance, Wanda Attia has nurtured her style through years of experience and tours to various countries. Through these travels, as a choreographer and teacher, she aspires to introduce to the audience the benefits that she has experienced in her dances, such as self-expression, release, and joy.

From eastern France, Théotim Lestra Di Bernardo, the dancer, discovered during his years studying the Passeur Culturel training course in Cergy that among the seemingly endless means of artistic expression, there was a creative realm that had yet to be fully explored. Driven by this realization, Théotim embarked on a journey to explore his diverse capabilities, focusing mainly on freestyle hip hop dance.

Théotim is a choreographer, a performer, a music creator, and also a beatmaker, especially for dance shows. Advocating for the unity of body and mind, Théotim's approach counters the trend of an era that pushes us to separate them from each other. In his work, the young artist uses sensation to bring his creations to life.

Coming from Portugal, Mariana Luz is a dancer and teacher specializing in hip hop and house. She currently teaches at the Cergy Dance Training Center. Mariana is also a dancer and a performer for the companies, namely MVMTK, Clouds, and Lontra Production with the “Memoriam” show. Since 2023, she has reprised her role for the Paradox-Sal Company in the “Queen Blood” show.

Unlike other members of the group, Laura Vechot, the dancer, grew up in a musical environment, especially jazz and Latin American music. She began by learning modern jazz, then switched to hip hop and house dance, passionately participating in events and festivals where the dances “exploded” naturally. Laura completed the training course “Passeurs Culturels and Hip-hop Dance” at the Cergy Dance Training Center, along with Acogny technique training course and traditional African dance training course in Senegal.

Currently, Laura regularly organizes dance sessions for a variety of participants, including children, and people with disabilities, etc., focusing on the therapeutic aspect of dance. Laura is also involved in a project of a Hamburg-based company, with the work on Yoruba mythology and ritual dances that will be performed in the summer of 2024.

Let's look forward to the exciting and "burning" atmosphere with the hip hop dances of the Cergy group on the community stage at Quoc Hoc Stele during the International Art Festival Week Hue 2024.
